New Brighton
Welcome to our website
This site is about a unique project between Wirral based New Brighton Lifeboat Station and Wallasey Amateur
Photographic Society whereby the Society is making a photographic record of a year in the life of the station.
We have also enlisted the help of the New Brighton Primary School Writing Group to tell the story of the station.
Call Outs & Rescues,Training, Fundraising & Support are all interlinked and necessary parts of the RNLI operation plus
having some fun on the way.
New Brighton Lifeboat station has 2 rescue craft - the new Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat and one of only four operational
Hovercraft operated by the RNLI. Based on the Wirral Peninsula on the banks of the River Mersey this is also one of the
busiest stations in the country.
Now that the project has completed the exhibition photographs are now going on show in Gallery One & Gallery Two plus
Gallery Three has the work of the pupils of New Brighton Primary School.
Following 2 major exhibitions at The Williamson Art Gallery & Museum in Birkenhead and Liverpools Anglican Cathedral the
photographs have been on display in a variety of locations in the Wallasey & New Brighton area of Wirral. The large
photographs from the exhibition will be going on display at the New Brighton Lifeboat Station during early 2012.
The RNLI gets no state support and relies heavily on volunteers running this highly professional service and raising the
necessary funds - in the end its all about saving life.
